15-Year-Old Girl Stopped Gunman From Killing More People in Texas
A 15-year-old girl who was injured in Wednesday night's deadly Texas shooting was able to stop the perpetrator from killing more people, according to police. ABC News reports that the girl called 911 after she was shot in the head to provide key information about the shooter and his plans.
The shooter, identified as Ron Haskell (who is either 33 or 34 according to reports), killed four children and two other adults in a Spring, Texas home last night. The children were ages four, seven, nine, and thirteen. Originally, it was reported that the children were Haskell's, but police now say the children were other relatives. Haskell and his wife are estranged, according to ABC News, and she was not in town during the shooting.
The 15-year-old girl—it's not clear if Haskell is her father—was the only survivor. According to police, she told a 911 operator that Haskell was headed to kill her grandparents. Cops chased his car, stopped him from killing any more people, and finally apprehended him after "very intense hostage negotiations." He is currently in custody.
