Bad idea of the year: The Godfather: The Video Game.

We have no opinion on the game itself. (Our pasty-faced brother seems pretty excited about the whole thing.) What we're dreading are the inevitable "think pieces" by movie critics on what this game means and how it recontextualizes the movie, and... blah, blah, blah. We're bored already.

We see A.O. Scott in The Times, Anthony Lane in The New Yorker, Tom Carson in GQ, and David Edelstein on Slate wearing out their thumbs on this thing and telling us all about it—at length. We're also dreading the bad headlines: Does Luca Brasi Sleep with Electronic Fishes?; Leave the Gun, Take the Xbox; I Believe in Video Games. Video Games Have Made My Fortune; etc.

We'll take a pass. Besides, we're waiting for is the video game adaptation of Peggy Sue Got Married. That's gonna be hot.
