Everyone knows that the best thing about getting married has nothing to do with sharing your life with someone—it's getting those fancy serving trays and whatnot from your Barney's gift registry. The Observer reveals that Manhattan couples are intentionally returning said gifts for cash credit:

"Everyone I know registered at Bloomingdale s so they could return," said Michelle, a 33-year-old home stylist who scored a $1,000 credit to spend on clothes after registering at Bergdorf Goodman [...] "They re so disorganized that you end up getting more than people really bought you like two of the same things because they didn t take it off the registry," Michelle said. "And you re not going to keep it. And you exchange it for shoes! So who wouldn t do that? Right? Everybody does it. Everybody! If someone tells you they didn t do it, they re lying. That s my opinion."

It sounds so easy, we're getting hitched ASAP so we can return our Waterford gifts for Prada. You know, 'cause EVERYONE is doing it.
