A woman in Los Angeles was captured on video cowering in fear on her roof while a man who broke into her home lurked behind her.

NBC Los Angeles reports police responded, with guns drawn, to calls about a burglar on the roof of the Venice home early Wednesday morning. Police and onlookers were reportedly unsure about whether the woman—half-clothed after being awoken by the burglar—was the burglar herself, as she wouldn't respond to police orders to come down from the roof.

Those questions were answered when another figure popped up behind her:

Police used a fire ladder to rescue the woman, and the man who broke into her home later came down from the roof, as well.

Neighbor Josh Romano told NBC Los Angeles that he'd seen the burglar led away in handcuffs only one hour before the roof incident.
