Walmart's Uniforms: Made in Jordan
Starting at the end of this month, every Walmart worker will have to wear a blue company vest. Employees aren't happy about the new dress code—but what a good opportunity for Walmart to fulfill its promise of supporting American-made products!
Walmart's new vests: "MADE IN JORDAN/ HECHO IN JORDANIA." The photo above was snapped this week by a Walmart employee in Minnesota and sent to us today.
In 2006, Jordanian workers who made clothes for Walmart said they were subjected to "20-hour days... not being paid for months and... being hit by supervisors and jailed when they complain." In 2011, a garment company in Jordan that made clothes for Walmart was found to be sexually abusing migrant workers who were "virtually imprisoned." But that was years ago.
Jordan is not located in the United States of America.
