Under pressure, the Met Opera has canceled its simulcast of John Adams' The Death of Klinghoffer. The Anti-Defamation League says "the opera itself is not anti-Semitic" but that it "could be used in foreign countries to stir up anti-Israel sentiments." Hitler's favorite operas are still OK, though.

Just because an evil person likes an opera doesn't make the opera itself evil.

While Wagner may have been personally anti-semitic, like most Europeans of the era, it's a pretty significant stretch to say that the opera itself is.

I should have been clearer: in what world is it plausible that The Death of Klinghoffer is going to inflame anti-Semitism? That's just crazy.
