Two Zebras Are on the Loose After Boldly Escaping From a Circus in Philadelphia [Updated]
ZEBRA WATCH™ has begun.
A pair of zebras escaped their human captors on Sunday, fleeing in a blaze of striped glory from the the UniverSoul Circus outside the Mann Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia.
According to NBC News, at 2:20 p.m. that one zebra had been caught and another was still on the run.
People have been tweeting amazing videos of the zebras, running wild and free in just the way that the good Lord intended. The story is oddly similar to the great llama lam that captivated the internet last February. Maybe we should all take these stories as a hint that we should stop trying to keep these animals caged up. Freedom for ungulates!

For what it’s worth, the UniverSoul circus is not well known for good animal welfare. Earlier this year, I wrote about disturbing animal welfare conditions for their elephants. Maybe the animals are finally starting to rise up against the circus that has kept them locked up.
Run, zebra, run.
Update 3:22 p.m.
The zebras have both been corralled, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer. No injuries to the animals have been reported, except for the broken heart of a caged bird.
