Two Shootings at Delaware State University in Span of Five Hours
Two shootings have taken place at Delaware State University this weekend, NBC Philadelphia reports. The first took place on Saturday night during the annual University-sanctioned Greek cookout event. The second took place on Sunday morning at University-run housing.
According to NBC Philadelphia, three people were injured during the first shooting, which sources said was precipitated by a fight that broke out at the event, which was attended by over a 1000 students.
Police described the shooter as a 5’9” to 5’11” man with dreadlocks, wearing a tan and blue long-sleeved T-shirt, last seen driving a dark 4-door sedan.
Campus was shut down while police investigated on Saturday. The second shooting took place five hours later, on Sunday morning, at the University Courtyard apartments, NBC reports. The apartments are a block away from campus.
School spokesman Carlos Holmes told NBC that it is not known whether the shootings were related.
