Two Americans Among Eight Killed in Shooting at Jordan Training Center
Eight people, including two American contractors, were killed this morning in a shooting at a U.S.-funded police training center just outside of Amman, Jordan. Two Americans were also wounded in the attack.
While the attack comes on the tenth anniversary a series of deadly bombings by al Qaeda in Amman, ABC News, citing a U.S. official, reports that the gunman was a recently fired officer from the Jordan International Police Training Center. The center, which was built with American money in 2003, works primarily with Iraqi and Palestinian trainees. Jordanian authorities initially said the shooter was killed by responding officers, though a source told ABC News that the man killed himself.
All four American victims worked as trainers at the center. A Jordanian trainer and a South African contractor were also killed.
