A Chinese man whose suffered severe nasal trauma in a traffic accident last year has been growing a new nose on his forehead for the last nine months.

Financial concerns led Xiaolian to forego corrective surgery following the accident, opting instead for basic care. Once the wound became infected, it was already too late to reconstruct the nose, and doctors were forced to go with Plan B: Grow a brand new schnoz.

Using cartilage removed from Xiaolian's ribs, specialists at Xiehe Hospital in Fuzhou City created a nose template on his forehead, seeded it with skin tissue expander, and voilà: (Almost) instant nose.

The hardest part is over, said the hospital's director of plastic surgery, who expects the transplant to take place soon.
