A week after closing diplomatic missions across the Middle East, the State Department has evacuated most of its diplomats from Lahore, Pakistan in response to “specific threats” against the U.S. consulate there.

The diplomats were relocated to Islamabad, the nation's capital. A handful of emergency personnel remain in Lahore.

This particular evacuation but is said to be unrelated to the threat that caused the government to close embassies and consulates in the Middle East and North Africa. The U.S. State Department has warned Americans not to travel to Pakistan, where anti-American sentiments are high and where terrorist groups are highly active: On Thursday, 37 people were killed in a suicide bombing at the funeral of a police officer in Quetta, and 10 more were killed in a shooting at a mosque on Friday.
