Texas Woman Abducted and Subjected to Bizarre "Blood Ritual"
This is not a fun story of witchcraft, like the witch/warlock dustup: authorities say four people abducted a Texas woman, held her for three days in a San Antonio-area home, and involved her in some sort of “blood ritual,” reports the Associated Press.
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office says they’re “solely operating on what the victim told us,” and described the bizarre ritual as “a form of witchcraft where they cut her hair and drew blood from her.” Spokesman James Keith said Mercedes Salazar (pictured), the alleged ringleader, believed the victim played a role in the recent death of her brother. How that was going to get sorted out by witchcraft is anyone’s guess.
Sheriff’s deputies found the woman because she was eventually able to call her mother, who notified authorities.
The woman had been left with one of her captors who untied her from the chair so she could use the bathroom and get a drink. The suspect fell asleep, allowing the victim to make the phone call.
When the woman saw deputies arriving at the home, she screamed for help, awakening her captor, who threatened her with a knife and scissors, authorities allege. Deputies forced their way into the home and disarmed the suspect.
All four of the alleged abductors have been captured by police—three were captured “within days,” while Salazar was tracked down and arrested on Sunday. The charges against the four include aggravated kidnapping.
