An Italian man who participated in and completed the New York City Marathon on Sunday before getting separated from his group and wandering the city for two days was found riding the subway on Tuesday morning.

And Kenya takes it. Geoffrey Mutai successfully defended his 2011 New York City Marathon title (last year's race was canceled due to Hurricane Sandy) with a 2:08:24, and fellow Kenyan Priscah Jeptoo won the women's title with an unofficial time of 2:25:07.

Multiple outlets are reporting-on Twitter-that Sunday's New York City Marathon has been canceled due to Hurricane Sandy complications. With many people questioning whether a marathon was a wise use of resources in a time of relative scarcity, this was probably a good decision by the mayor's office.

The winning time at the New York City Marathon on Sunday was two hours and five minutes. How about shaving two hours off of that and running the whole thing in just about five minutes? Now you can, and not even leave your chair.

It took the runners hours to finish, but thanks to this MTA time-lapse video, you can watch the joggers in yesterday's NYC Marathon begin the race by crossing the Verrazano bridge in no time at all. Participation is overrated anyway.

Most people train for the New York City Marathon above ground, in sneakers, after years of working up to marathon distance. Edison Peña trained thousands of feet underground, in boots he sawed the ankles off of. And he still finished.
