♦ If you have the nerve to approach Anna Wintour at a public event and ask her an uncomfortable question, don't be the least bit surprised if tells you to get lost. [The Cut]
♦ Madonna's latest fashion faux-pas? A green Louis Vuitton dress by Marc Jacobs, which "looks as if someone poured a wheelbarrow of lawn clippings all over her," bitches fashion critic Hilary Alexander. "Just another horrific hiccup in the wardrobe of a woman of wealth, but no taste." [Telegraph]

Election Windows and Brazilian Swimwear

cityfile · 11/05/08 03:30PM

♦ Henri Bendel updated its window display this morning to account for the results of the election: "The cocktail-dress-wearing mannequins have been moved over to the blue polling booth, someone cracked a bottle of champagne (and drank it, leaving an empty bottle and glass), and there's a strange, lipstick-edged cake on the floor." [Racked]
♦ While most of the country was consumed by election fever, some fashionistas were all ready en route to support an equally important issue: Brazilian swimwear! The Claro Rio Summer show kicks off in Rio today, and Zani Gugelmann, Amy Sacco, Fiona Scarry, Natalia Vodianova and Justin Portman, and Michael Roberts are all there. [CR, CR, stylefile]

SALTYT takes New York

Gawker · 03/10/03 10:41AM

Fashion blogger SALTY visits New York and chronicles things he finds surprising: "...Naomi Campbell walking on Madison Avenue in an awful red jogging suit ... Teen girls with really old men at the Serena Bar... Tons of celebrities walking in the streets of Soho... Smokers standing outside buildings freezing instead of simply smoking in their offices... Tons of French restaurants with astonishing menu prices... Natalia Vodianova walking unrecognised on Fifth Avenue..."
Things that surprised me in New York [SALTYT]

Calvin Klein conspiracy

Gawker · 01/31/03 02:36PM

Patrick at Supermodels Are Lonelier Than You Think notes that Anna Wintour's pen seems to have produced a comparison of the much-hyped supermodel du jour Natalia Vodianova to Kate Moss, Brooke Shields, and Jean Shrimpton. The only real common denominator is that all were Calvin Klein models. Patrick suggests that this is really just a sophisticated exercise in sucking up to a major advertiser. Ms. Wintour & Co. may be too busy pushing product to provide any intelligent commentary. Update: A reader points out that Jean Shrimpton was never a Calvin Klein model. We stand corrected. There is no conspiracy; only bad fashion writing.
