Kanye and Friends Record a 'We Are the World' for a File-Sharing Site
Max Read · 12/09/11 05:10PMWhat the world has been missing lately is a big, all-stars-on-deck charity single to benefit a needy cause (casual racism optional). So we're really glad that Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Diddy, Chris Brown, Floyd Mayweather (Floyd Mayweather?) and others have joined together to release the "Megaupload Mega Song," to benefit the, uh, charitable cause of, well, a file-sharing site.
Watch the X Factor Audience Revolt Against Nicole Scherzinger
Matt Cherette · 12/09/11 04:40AMRather than feel personally responsible for sending someone home on tonight's X Factor, judge Nicole Scherzinger cast a vote against 13-year-old fan favorite Rachel Crow in order to force a deadlock. Viewer votes were then used to break the tie, and—shockingly—a sobbing Rachel was eliminated, sending the audience into the anti-Scherzinger fury you'll see in the above video.
Obama Has Lost the Korn Caucus
Jim Newell · 12/08/11 02:25PMFormer Total Request Live with Carson Daly mainstay Korn, a band that you — yes, you — used to love, has discovered the truth that few of the band members' Hollywood friends care to admit: Obama and his "illuminati" minions have turned this country into a "house of shame." Hmm. They must be Romney men, through and through.

Adrian Chen · 12/06/11 02:10PMYes, Of Course There Is a 'Libertarian Dubstep Guy'
Max Read · 12/05/11 04:46PMSomeday, hundreds of years from now, your great-great-great-great-etc. grandchildren will approach the jar in which your brain is kept and whisper into the microphone, What was the internet like in 2011? And they will wait, in the cluttered and dusty back room where you live, so to speak, as the computer processes and converts your firing synapses, until the small printer on the shelf below you produces a slip of paper with two words: "libertarian dubstep." And your tiny blind descendants will run off back to work in the thorium mine before the robot foremen notice their absence, and you will be left alone again, wishing you could tell them more; wishing you could show them L.A. Weekly's interview with Porter Robinson, "the libertarian dubstep guy"; wishing you could explain to them what it meant; wishing you could say why millions of young white men across the country were forwarding each other Ron Paul YouTube videos and listening to Skrillex. And then you realize that you don't really know, yourself: you—what is left of you—have never really known; you are as mystified still, centuries later, as you were that day, hundreds of years in the past, when you first heard "The State."

Matt Cherette · 12/02/11 05:22AMOn Thursday, Lady Gaga debuted the music video for her latest single, "Marry the Night." Directed by Gaga herself and clocking in at just under 14 minutes, the epic mini-movie begins with a defeated Gaga being wheeled on a gurney into the psychiatric ward of a hospital. "I'm gonna be a star," she says.
The Nerdy White Rapper Who Launched Two Internet Sensations in 24 Hours
Matt Cherette · 12/01/11 06:03AMMelanin-deficient battle rapper Mac Lethal's pancake-focused cover of Chris Brown's "Look At Me Now"—which he recorded while making pancakes—has garnered nearly half a million views since being uploaded to YouTube about 24 hours ago. Why? Because as you'll see above, it's amazing. But also: because it hit the top of Reddit's front page shortly after appearing online Wednesday morning, immediately taking its place in the Viral Video Hall of Fame and giving its creator some of the Internet's best temporary bragging rights.

Matt Cherette · 11/30/11 10:44PMTonight, NBC aired its annual Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting special. It was boring! Well, except for the part where Justin Bieber debuted the music video for his duet with Mariah Carey of "All I Want for Christmas Is You (Superfestive!)." Because what the hell?

Seth Abramovitch · 11/28/11 12:08AMIt's the Golden Rule of Pop Divadom: Thou shalt throw shade upon your contemporaries (so long as they aren't in the room). So consider this sprawling supercut by Rich Juzwiak the Holy Bible of Diva Cuntitude. Each clip contains a Whitney, a Mariah, a Madonna, etc., talking smack behind another one's back, followed by a clip of the gossiped-about diva talking about another diva, and so and and so forth, until it all devolves into a cannibalistic diva free-for-all, where all that's left is a pile of bones and pearly teeth and silicone inserts and Dior shoes and Versace gowns. It's very entertaining! [FourFour]
