2009's National Book Awards went down last night. In delightful twists of irony, they were a) sponsored by Google, b) held on Wall Street, and c) James Franco was there. So were Party Crash Photog Mo Pitz and I. BOOKS!

Vice spent $250,000 on their 15th Anniversary Halloween Party last night. Our intrepid Gawker Party Crash photographer Mo Pitz accompanied me out to a massive, two-story warehouse in Brooklyn to find out where the money went. We have answers.

Last night, the country's media-tech-social scene collided in something called The Webutante Ball. Instead of forging an alternate universe in a Big Bang-esque explosion, it thankfully existed for one evening atop the Empire Hotel. We braved it for you.
