'Harlem Shake' Finally Gets the Federal Investigation It Deserves
Taylor Berman · 02/28/13 11:05PMThe meme that's made Bauuer's incorrectly named "Harlem Shake" the number one song in America two weeks in a row is finally getting the federal investigation it deserves. Sort of. One of the more recent versions of the meme, made by the Colorado College Ultimate Frisbee Team – takes place aboard a Frontier Airlines flight. It starts off innocently/predictably enough, with a lone frisbee player dancing in a lacrosse helmet. Then, as always happens in these videos, the whole plane joins in, including other members of the team in various costumes, plus a confused-looking but game old man. Harmless fun, in an awful sort of way, right? Wrong, according to the FAA, who have launched an investigation into the video.
The Princess and the Trolls: The Heartrending Legend of Adalia Rose, the Most Reviled Six-Year-Old Girl on the Internet
Camille Dodero · 02/22/13 11:48AMLike many things of great consequence, it all started with "Ice Ice Baby." Adalia Rose Williams, at the age of five years, made a video of herself dancing to the Vanilla Ice hit, and the dancing videos were ultimately responsible for what followed: the hundreds of letters, the thousands of emails, the 5.8 million Facebook fans. The unauthorized redneck-rap tribute song selling on iTunes. The obscene put-downs. The death threats.
People in Harlem Confirm That the Harlem Shake is Not the Harlem Shake
Rich Juzwiak · 02/19/13 06:45PMAnyone with eyes and a memory that goes back at least to the early '00s advent of Bad Boy Records knows that the meme or whatever it is of people convulsing arhythmically that is currently masquerading as the "Harlem Shake" is not the Harlem Shake. A filmmaker named Chris McGuire took to Harlem for man-on-the-street reactions and what starts as a jokey sort of montage gains intensity for the impassioned anti-appropriation sentiment the nu-Shake provokes. "It's not no dance, it's really a lifestyle," says one guy. "It's actually an art form, a dance art form that doesn't have the respect it deserves," says another. "Injustice," says yet another.

("His favorite," apparently, according to his previous owners who were relieved of him following the Ikea incident.) Everyone loves the Ikea Monkey, which is why Ikea Monkey is now a meme. Here are some of the best Ikea Monkey memes.
Fake Winning Powerball Ticket Goes Viral on Facebook Proving Once Again That Facebook Users Will Share Anything
Adrian Chen · 11/30/12 04:21PMOn Thursday evening, a Facebook user named Nolan Daniels posted a poorly-photoshopped picture of his supposedly-winning Powerball ticket, along with the offer that he would give $1 million to a random person who shared it. So far it's been shared over 200,000 times, because Like-addled Facebook users will share anything no matter how obviously untrue it is.
The Real Reasons Why People Make Supercuts
Rich Juzwiak · 11/27/12 05:25PMOver at Slate today, Seth Stevenson takes on the "supercut," aiming to explain why some people "spend so many hours stitching footage into YouTube collages." He spoke to Chris Zabriskie, who put together the Lost "What?" reel, along with a few others, and also put together his own supercut – one of all the frames in which the bunny-cased iPhone of Zoe Deschanel's New Girl character Jess appears. Here's the takeaway:
