Late yesterday night, a marine killed two of his colleagues and then himself on a marine base in Quantico, Virginia. Officials report the shooter was male, and the victims were male and female. All three were active duty marines and all permanent staff at the Marine Officer Candidate School (OCS).

A U.S. national living in the city of Makati, a part of Metro Manila, was stabbed to death by four men just outside of the gate to his residential community yesterday. The victim, George Anikow, was initially identified as a diplomat himself, with police chief Manual Lucban confirming he'd received a call from the US Embassy after the murder; other sources identify Anikow as "a dependent of one of the officers of the US Embassy" awaiting a return to active duty as a U.S. Marine.

Gary Stein is a 26 year-old nine-year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, meaning he's been in there since he got out of high school. He's served in Iraq. He does not like our President and Commander-in-chief, Barack Obama. He made his displeasure known in the following ways:

The release of images of U.S. Marines with a Nazi SS flag has forced the U.S. Marine Corps to announce two things: First, that it does not condone the use of Nazi iconography. Second, that it is possible to have "no malicious intent" when displaying the SS symbol because some Marines have reinterpreted it to symbolize "Scout Sniper."

The U.S. Marine Corps is sorry that ten of its members posed with a Nazi SS flag in Afghanistan, then posted the pictures on a blog. It was all an innocent misunderstanding, a military spokesperson tells the Associated Press:
