TypeRacer is a one-minute game (depending on your speed) that validates the most basic modern job skill. Type faster than the other people and your little Volkswagen wins a race. The game uses quotes from books, songs and movies. Anyone with a typing-intensive job will probably score second or third place in the multiplayer races.

Catch the shapes that flow in time to the soft piano music. Yellow and purple shapes are good, red shapes are bad. Feel your heart rate falling, your breath easing. In the original version of The Office they played this instead of Counterstrike. [Music Catch]

You must complete a level with the cooperation of your past and future selves by using your TARDIS-like time machine. Each level takes just a couple of minutes, and I've only been stumped once (the video walkthroughs are helpful). If you loved Portal, you'll like this enough for two lunch breaks.

The last game I posted was a simple five-minuter. This one's a luxuriously illustrated and animated point-and-click adventure that reminds me of playing that classic role-playing game Space Quest, though it feels more like this old claymation Myst-like game, The Neverhood. Anyway, spend your lunch hour playing Anika's Odyssey and don't be afraid, you can't die in it. Challenging flash games are for people with too much time; what I like are simple games that I feel accomplished for winning in five minutes. I hope you do too, because Doeo is about as good as a bump of coke before lunch. The game feels cuddly like Kirby, Katamari Damacy or the Powerpuff Girls. Plus the music sounds like that Japanese band Fantastic Plastic Machine. Play a round of Doeo.
