Mo'Nique was featured in this week's Hollywood Reporter claiming she's been blacklisted from Hollywood, in large part because of how she handled the 2010 Oscar campaign for the movie Precious.

"Sometimes I just think, Are you serious that I'm saying this right now, that I have to talk about what is going on in America today?" director Lee Daniels told Indiewire earlier this week about his new film The Butler. Indeed, his film's survey of major events in the struggle for black civil rights in America feels simplified, if not dumbed-down—if not outright condescending.

In the new based-on-a-true-story film from Precious director Lee Daniels (also of Nicole Kidman/Zac Efron Pee Movie fame), Oprah Winfrey plays Gloria Gaines, wife of Cecil Gaines, a fictional White House butler whose real life counterpart, Eugene Allen, worked through the terms of eight U.S. Presidents from 1952 to 1986. The film is called The Butler. Forrest Whitaker plays the butler.

Lee Daniels' upcoming historical drama The Butler was bound to be weird given Daniels' guiding hand (have you seen his The Paperboy, and did you like when Nicole Kidman peed on Zac Efron?), the casting (Robin Williams is Eisenhower, John Cusack is Nixon, Nancy Regan is Jane Fonda, oops I mean Jane Fonda is Nancy Regan) and Mariah Carey's turban.
