Diesel Megastore Now Open for Business

cityfile · 02/17/09 02:22PM

The huge new Diesel flagship on Fifth and 54th Street opened today. Can we interest you in "over 700 different denim styles," all at totally exorbitant prices? Too bad. Anyway, if you happen to pass by the location and you're wondering why on earth there are real, live human beings chewing on tuna in the store window, rest assured it's intentional. The company asked various "New York personalities" to eat a "full, real dinner" inside of the main window every night through Friday. Richie Rich, Lady Bunny, Patrick McDonald and Kenny Kenny were there last night; future guests include headband-wearing socialite Arden Wohl and socialite/"artist" Hope Atherton. "It's a rare chance to get to watch socialites eat," Racked writes. Indeed! [Racked]

Facebook Photo Trips Down Memory Lane

Richard Lawson · 12/05/08 03:58PM

With this old decade of riches crumbling around us, how can we soothe our jangled nerves? We suggest with an act of remembrance-as-catharsis. You know, like putting old photos of you and your New York heyday buddies up on Facebook!

Happy Birthday

Terry Richardson turns 43 today. We're guessing whatever Terry has planned this evening will involve plenty of liquor and barely-legal girls in their underwear. Maybe Lady Bunny can come over, too. She (he?) turns 46 today. Also celebrating today: playwright Thomas Meehan is 79, Oscar-winning actress Marcia Gay Harden is turning 49, and another Oscar winner, Halle Berry, is 42. Magic Johnson is 49. Theater producer Allan Buchman is celebrating his 63rd. Actress Mila Kunis is 25. And America's Next Top Model's Jay Manuel turns 36.

The Weekend That Was

(1) The 9th annual Art For Life Benefit took place on Saturday at Russell Simmons' East Hampton house. Despite tickets not selling out as fast as usual, the event played host to Aretha Franklin, Christy Turlington, Lorraine Bracco, Soledad O'Brien, David Paterson, Diddy, Padma Lakshmi, Brett Ratner, LA Reid, the cast of Real Housewives of New York, Al Roker, Kelly Bensimon, Alina Cho, Simon de Pury, and Porschla Coleman—whose break up with Simmons, judging by their behavior, is either incredibly amicable or no longer in effect. Lady Bunny

cityfile · 02/03/08 09:39PM

Lady Bunny is a drag performer, comedian, and occasional DJ, otherwise known—at least to the Department of Motor Vehicles—as Jon Ingle.

Choire · 09/12/07 05:10PM

Matt Phillp has taken what is definitely our favorite picture of all of fashion week at the Heatherette show. There in the front row, infamous fey dandy Patrick McDonald was placed next to sorta-thuggy Diddy. This proves that either the show's publicist (the infamous Kelly Cutrone!) is either a genius or a just a nutty crazy lady. Also to be noted! Lady Bunny two rows behind them, taking pictures and laughing her ass off. Heaven. So long, fashion week! It's been... well, it's been!

The Death Of Wigstock

Rod Townsend · 08/30/07 03:51PM

Rod Townsend (aka our commenter Momo), sometimes receives telephone calls from The Past, a mysterious entity that remembers where things used to be in New York before Starbucks and Whole Foods came to town.
