Fashion Week Highlights: Day Six

cityfile · 09/11/08 10:16AM

» The scene at Michael Kors was inevitably the central portion of the fashion industry/magazine world/reality TV venn diagram: Nina Garcia, Rachel Zoe with her client Joy Bryant, Heidi Klum, Joanna Coles, and Joe Zee drew the limelight away from Kelly Killoren Bensimon, Aerin Lauder Zinterhofer, Blake Lively, Bette Midler, and Kors' mom Joan. On the runway the (smiling!) models, who were told "you are the most glamorous beach bums in the world," showed off middle-of-the-road, cheerful outfits with polka dots and gingham aplenty. • Lindsay Lohan is turning down a $700,000 offer to pose nude for Playboy, even though she took her top off for New York for free earlier this year. Maybe Hugh should call Dina Lohan? [P6]

1) Bronson van Wyck and Andrew Fry (left) held a "Sunset Supper" at their house in Southampton for guests including Aby and Samantha Boardman Rosen, Peggy Siegal, Eric Villency, Fernanda Niven, Alex Kramer, and Peter Davis, who were served caviar in little lumps on their hands. According to Davis: "Caviar is the new cocaine... it's decadent and totally rehab-free!" Just think how disappointed his dealer's going to be when he catches wind of this. [Paper]

DPC Takes on the 'Real Housewives'

cityfile · 08/25/08 06:56AM

David Patrick Columbia is not much of a fan of Bravo's Real Housewives of New York, the show that will be returning for a second season in 2009 with a new cast member, Kelly Killoren Bensimon. First off, Columbia would like to make it abundantly clear that these women are not actually part of the city's society scene: "As far as the Society angle goes, these girls are not Society. An expensive apartment, a limo and a house in the Hamptons does not society make. Those accoutrement won't hurt if that's what you're looking for; but they also won't help. These girls are all spawns of the subPrime world that is now imploding around us," writes DPC on his site today. And he reserves a little extra bitchiness for LuAnn, the cast member who felt the need to mention that her husband is a count about every four minutes: "She may be sophisticated, married as long as she has been, but the patina of a European 'countess' is not there." Yes, you do sort of undermine the whole countess thing when you mention in the same sentence that you're a former "LPN," or licensed practical nurse.

Kelly Killoren Bensimon: Look Before You Leap?

cityfile · 08/04/08 06:48AM

Kelly Killoren Bensimon is a former model, former Gotham and Elle editor, and the former wife of photographer Gilles Bensimon. She's also the new member of the cast of Bravo's Real Housewives of New York City. So you'd think she would have thought long and hard about whether participating would be good for her career and image, right? Maybe conferred with some friends or a PR person or two? Or maybe just watched the show to see what she was getting into? Apparently not. Killoren says she hadn't watched a single episode of the show before signing on, but that she's "excited to show American women how you can live a dream life where you're taking care of your kids and working and socializing." And it's not about her. "I'm just a vehicle for the show to feature all of the amazing people I'm exposed to on a daily basis—artists, writers, athletes, actors." She really never has seen the show, has she?

Kelly Killoren Bensimon is the New Real Housewife

Richard Lawson · 07/21/08 01:40PM

Everyone (especially those who work at Elle) will eventually be on a reality show! Kelly Killoren Bensimon has been added to the cast of Bravo's reality nightmare Real Housewives of New York City. Like Project Runway judge Nina Garcia, Bensimon used to work at Elle magazine. Her ex-husband, Elle photographer Gilles Bensimon, used to do a prize photo shoot with the winner of America's Next Top Model. The black hole of reality TV continues to suck everyone who's ever crossed its path into its cold, obliterating maw. Video of Ms. Bensimon in the Hamptons is after the jump.

Gossip Roundup: Vin Diesel's Totally Gay, Three-Part Punic Adventure

remystern · 03/17/06 12:44PM

• Following in Mel Gibson's footsteps, Vin Diesel says he'd really, really love to do a three-part epic based on the life of Hannibal. Featuring men in togas and sandals. In the ancient language of Punic. This is possibly the most ridiculous thing to have ever come out of Vin's mouth — aside from the time he went on TV to say he was straight, that is. [The Scoop]
• Turns out it was Tom Cruise who forced Comedy Central to cancel plans to re-air the South Park episode that takes shots at Scientology. America's most favorite OT-VII threatened to skip the publicity circuit for MI:3 if the network went ahead with the broadcast. We should be so lucky. [Page Six]
• Just how generous is Kevin Federine? He chopped off 10 inches of his precious hair to send to Locks of Love! Now do you see what Britney sees? [Lowdown]
• Paris has been dating Stavros Niarchos for, like, three decades — well, in Paris years anyway. Which means it might just be time for some fresh meat. Rich sports stars and Eurotrash: Watch your backs. [Page Six]
• Ron Perelman has selected an appropriate Ellen Barkin replacement: editor Kelly Killoren Bensimon. If history is any judge, she'll get royally screwed over sometime in early 2010 but at least she'll get lots of free shit from Revlon until then. [Page Six]
