Mighty Box Games, a European development shop, has decided to stomp out the dying embers of unmitigated emotion by creating a videogame "loosely based" on the Joy Division song "Love Will Tear Us Apart."
Minus the painted-on smiles, this Playmobil animation captures Joy Division's 1979 Peel session recording of "Transmission" pretty accurately. They even got the famous Ian Curtis seizure dance down perfectly!
If you were one of the lucky ones to catch "Criminal Minds" last night, it featured a murderous Gavin Rosdale covering Joy Division while looking like a cross between Robert Smith and a drag queen that just got off work.

How "square" is New Yorker critic Anthony Lane? He is "so irretrievably square that I not only never listened to [Joy Division] but didn't even know anyone who liked it," he admits in today's review of Control. Also, he uses the word "square." [NYer]
Someone did a Joy Division sneaker for New Balance, on sale in the U.K. now. Yeah, that's how we always pictured Ian Curtis. Jogging like a prat. Maybe with some ankle weights, and a track suit! Right up until the moment he hanged himself.
