The Great Fortune of Capturing Anthony Weiner's Misfortune: Weiner

Rich Juzwiak · 05/23/16 11:10AM

An extraordinary thing fell into the laps of filmmakers Josh Kriegman and Elyse Steinberg as they documented Anthony Weiner’s 2013 bid for New York City mayor: Weiner’s dick. For about six weeks, Kriegman and Steinberg filmed Weiner’s promising attempt at public redemption after his 2011 sexting scandal caused him to resign from Congress—and then a second wave of sexting allegations emerged.

Why Is the Internet Obsessed With Photos of Hillary Clinton and Huma Abedin?

J.K. Trotter · 04/12/16 01:05PM

For the past several days, including today, the most trafficked piece of content on Politico.com has been a slideshow of 17 wire pictures featuring Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton and her long-time aide Huma Abedin in various settings, including the 2008 campaign trail and several countries Clinton visited as Secretary of State. Its description refers to Abedin as Clinton’s “body woman”—an appellation borrowed, it seems, from a 2006 Observer article—and Abedin’s job as “assisting the former secretary of state’s move back into her private life.” Its title is, “How close are Huma Abedin and Hillary Clinton?”

The New Anthony Weiner Documentary Sounds Like It's Going to Be Juicy as Hell

Andy Cush · 01/19/16 12:35PM

Weiner is the title of a new documentary about the dismal 2013 New York City mayoral campaign of Anthony Weiner. Considering that Weiner’s run, like his tenure as a U.S. congressman before, was ended by a sexting scandal, the title seems like a mean and juvenile joke. But then again, that’s just his name: Weiner. Tough break, I guess. What are you gonna do? Anyway, the documentary sounds like it’s going to be excellent.

So, Philippe Reines Sent Us an Email

J.K. Trotter · 03/04/15 01:30PM

Philippe Reines, the longtime aide to Hillary Clinton, sent Gawker a long note last night after a reporter for the Washington Free Beacon, C.J. Ciaramella, emailed him about an article of ours concerning his and other Clinton staffers’ use of a private email accounts to conduct official State Department business. The entire exchange, including our response at the very bottom, can be found below. We’ll keep you posted if Reines writes back. (Update: Reines responded; see below).

Source: Top Clinton Aides Used Secret Email Accounts at State Dept.

J.K. Trotter · 03/03/15 05:43PM

Hillary Clinton is defending her use of a private email address, hosted at ClintonEmail.com, to conduct official State Department business by claiming that her emails were captured by official @state.gov accounts that other agency employees were instructed to use to contact her. But according to a knowledgeable source, at least two other top Clinton aides also used private email accounts to conduct government business—placing their official communications outside the scope of federal record-keeping regulations.

Husband Of the Year Anthony Weiner was spotted today with his wife Huma Abedin. They couldn't hold hands because he was carrying a L'Occitane bag, like any disgraced non-mayor would do. He spent his totally calm day taking his son to Duane Reade and the playground.

Weiner Might Run for Mayor This Year: Three Questions About His Comeback Profile

Max Read · 04/10/13 07:47AM

Watch out for former New York Congressman Anthony Weiner on the New York mayoral ballot this year. He's been consulting with pollsters and advisers, and gauging his chances, and in a long comeback profile appearing in this weekend's New York Times Magazine looks to be leaning toward "yes": "[I]t's now or maybe never for me, in terms of running for something," he says. (Weiner—you might remember—got in some trouble two years ago after accidentally tweeting a (clothed) photograph of his engorged member to his 60,000 followers; it came out over the course of several agonizing and hilarious days that he had been cybering with several women he'd met online, though never in person.)

John McCain Calls Michele Bachmann's Insane Criticism of Anthony Weiner's Wife “Sinister” and “Ugly”

Taylor Berman · 07/18/12 06:56PM

Michele Bachmann recently issued some typically stupid statements accusing Huma Abedin, Chief of Staff to Hillary Clinton and wife to Anthony Weiner, of having ties to the (gasp) Muslim Brotherhood. McCain, who is apparently in one of those moods where he acts honorably instead of cravenly, defended Abedin, whom he described as a "friend" and a "fine and decent American."

Little Weiner Emerges

A hearty mazel tov to well-known penis photographer Anthony Weiner and his way-out-of-his-league wife, State Department attaché Huma Abedin, who gave birth yesterday to a boy. Jordan Zane Weiner clocked in at seven pounds and was born ten days early, giving him a head start on his journey to The Most Awkward Father-Son Conversation of All Time. [NYP, image via AP]

Hillary Clinton Receives Gaddafi News from Pregnant Huma: 'Wow'

Maureen O'Connor · 10/20/11 01:17PM

Here's a twofer for Washington gossip types: video of Hillary Clinton reacting to an early report that Gaddafi had been captured, which she reads from a Blackberry while a heavily pregnant Huma Abedin hovers over her shoulder. Says the Secretary of State upon reading the news:

Anthony Weiner Complained of 'Backwards' In-Laws to Sex Chat Pal

Ryan Tate · 10/11/11 07:31PM

One of Anthony Weiner's "sextees" is telling all in a new book, which includes a chat in which Weiner said his wife's parents were "backward thinking" because "I've never been accepted by them." Ha ha, can't imagine why they never accepted a stand up guy like you, Anthony. Tell us more of this injustice!

Anthony Weiner's Little Weiner Is a Boy

Maureen O'Connor · 09/12/11 10:58AM

After completing their Italian "babymoon," Anthony Weiner and Huma Abedin are stateside again, and "telling friends and family that [the] ultrasound shows that they're expecting a boy." Taking pictures of his little Weiner and showing it off. The man never learns. [P6, image via AP]
