Barack Obama Gives Wingnuts a New Pastor to Hate

Jim Newell · 04/29/11 02:30PM

Conservative pundits have been known to give President Obama crap for not going to church. It's part of why, if you're, say, Byron York, the president should only blame himself for the millions of morons who believe he's a Muslim. But when Obama does go to church, as he and his family did on Easter Sunday, he still ends up in a multi-pronged scandal. He didn't "do" Easter correctly.

Adrian Chen · 04/29/11 02:16PM

On this day Prince William and Kate Middleton were married. And also something like a dozen memes were born. The grumpy flower girl is cute, but the hat worn by Princess Beatrice is our favorite. Princess Beatrice's hat has a tumblr, something like 14 Facebook fan pages with thousands of fans, and has set off a Photoshop frenzy.

Real Housewives of New York: A Hamptons Murder Mystery

Brian Moylan · 04/29/11 01:35PM

Neither Father Dowling, Matlock, Jessica Fletcher, or any other geriatric detective could figure out just who died last night on the Real Montauk Monsters of New York. Was it Sonja who got thrown from a horse? Was it Ramona who committed social suicide? Was it Kelly who buried her head in the sand and suffocated? Who knows?

Jim Newell · 04/29/11 01:20PM

Remember the sex tape that Democratic pariah John Edwards made with the mother of his illegitimate child, the delightful Rielle Hunter? Hunter is still suing Edwards confidante-turned-enemy Andrew Young for possession of the tape. Edwards has already offered some testimony, and now the judge wants more. Gross.

Olivia Munn in a Bikini Is the Key to Selling a Burger

Matt Cherette · 04/29/11 12:33PM

Carl's Jr., the California-based fast food chain known for its provocative ads, is in the midst of rolling out a new promotional campaign. The crux of it: "Ugly [models] don't sell burgers." But Olivia Munn in a skimpy bikini—and straddling a Sea-Doo—apparently does.

The Washington Post Has a Donald Trump Problem

Jim Newell · 04/29/11 11:59AM

Washington D.C. will be in full "why the country hates us" mode this weekend, as reporters and pundits gather to mingle inappropriately with the politicians and operatives they cover at tomorrow's annual White House Correspondents Dinner. The black-tie affair seems to attract more Hollywood celebrities with each passing year, usually in the form of guests for major D.C. publications. And who has the Washington Post, our capital's mightiest fishwrapper, invited this year? America's cartoon slime monster, Donald Trump.

American Idol: Only the Weak Survive

Richard Lawson · 04/29/11 11:48AM

On last night's episode of American Dung Rodeo, yet another kid was executed for our grim enjoyment. Was it who we expected? No, no it was not! It was, truly, something of a shock.

3-D Movies Are Cool Now

Adrian Chen · 04/29/11 11:15AM

Weirdo German auteur Werner Herzog's new film, Cave of Forgotten Dreams is a 3-D documentary about ancient cave paintings in the south of France. It's easily the best 3-D documentary since Justin Bieber's Never Say Never 3-D. As a bonus, it's making 3-D safe for "serious" grown-ups.

If you're a Lady Gaga fan and just can't wait until the music video for "Judas"—her new, dance-ready single—premieres on American Idol next week, consider this your temporary fix: On today's Ellen, a big-haired, blue latex-wrapped Gaga was joined by a cavalcade of male dancers for the song's first televised performance.
