Nowadays, you can’t open a single tab without running into an article about how horses do not belong in the Olympics. Our very own Gawker Media network, for instance, has become polluted with such opinions. But not all Olympic horses deserve such scorn.

It's been a while since we talked about Ann Romney's Olympics (loser) horse Rafalca, but the noble beast has reentered the political conversation.

Mitt Romney didn't watch his wife's horse Rafalca compete in the Olympics — "I'm not even sure which day the sport goes on," he said to NBC last week. "I will not be watching the event. I hope her horse does well." —so it falls to us to break the news to him: Mitt, the horse participated in dressage today. And it did well, but it didn't medal.

Before you go around criticizing Ann Romney for her eliteness, remember that you, too, could probably buy a horse, pay for its upkeep, and pursue a career in dressage.

Last week, Stephen Colbert pledged his undying support for Mitt Romney's Dressage horse Rafalka as she attempted to make it to the Olympics. Now that she has been selected for the team, Stephen is overjoyed and is even more committed to making Dressage the new American pastime.
