Oberlin, a private college with a $50,000 tuition, has entered once more into this year’s Tedious Campus Culture War Debate. After hearing complaints that its sushi program wasn’t good enough for reasons of racism, the place of learning has issued an apology.

“No matter how much I love cable-knit sweaters and Gruyere cheese, I don’t want to live in a world where the only cultural inspiration I’m entitled to comes from my roots in Ireland, Switzerland, and Eastern Europe.” Well, this is certainly a bold piece of writing, if nothing else.

What you see above is a portion of the flyer for Urban Outfitters' 2014 office holiday party, which is taking place on Wednesday at the retailer's corporate headquarters in Philadelphia. As you can see, employees are being asked to dress up in some mish-mash of Orientalist signifiers so obviously offensive that two separate Urban employees forwarded the image to us this morning.

No Doubt pulled the video for "Looking Hot," the second single from the band's album Push and Shove, off YouTube so fast after Native American activist groups (and internet commenters) cried "racism," you have to wonder whether they ever intended to leave it up for longer than a day in the first place.
