A rare coin dealer says that a Northern California couple basically tripped over $10 million dollars last year when they discovered a can of old coins while out walking their dog.

In the last year, the TSA has collected more than $500,000 in change left behind by passengers at security checkpoints. A Florida Representative has proposed the money, which was deposited into an "aviation security fund," go towards upgrades for members of the military and their families when they fly.

Remember the mid-nineties, when Americans thought that the dollar was on a dangerous free fall and the only secure investment was Beanie Babies? That was crazy, but we all learned a lot. We learned that the only secure investment is nickels.

First Canada eliminated the penny. Then it introduced a glow-in-the-dark dinosaur quarter that cost $30 to buy. Now the Royal Canadian Mint has announced plans to develop a digital alternative to all coinage (and, possibly, small bills), called "MintChip."

President and noted mixologist Barack Obama is looking to change the mix of metals that go into pennies and nickels, in an effort to produce the coins more cheaply.

There will be no more "dollar coins." Nobody wants them. The coins, we mean; their heft is too great for the threadbare, hole-studded pockets of the average American pant. But dollars themselves—sure, we'll take em. Got any? No.

President Obama set another horrifying legal precedent today, by messing around with that most important of statutory laws: The 2005 Presidential $1 Coin Act, which "requires the U.S. Mint issue new presidential $1 Coins with the likeness of every deceased president." The White House announced today that the U.S. Mint would no longer make these coins for general use, since it's a silly vanity project that no one cares about.
