Iran continues to dislike Hollywood, it would seem. Actor Armin Amiri, who briefly appeared in the Iranian-flag-ripping movie The Wrestler, recently learned that his father was arrested in Tehran.

Armin Amiri's Socialista was shuttered last month, the result of a crackdown by the Department of Health, a hang-up over the club's liquor license, and, according to Amiri, a lack of enthusiasm on the part of his investors, who include Harvey Weinstein and Sting. The good news? Socialista's closing will give Amiri more time to focus on his acting career! He says he's already landed a part in a new movie called The Imperialists Are Still Alive. Given the amount of money that was invested in Socialista and eventually lost, we're going to go ahead and assume The Weinstein Company won't be producing. [NYO]

Just because the stock market is continuing to flail around, that doesn't mean people should forget this month's primary issue of national import: Who's going as what for Halloween? The Transom has helpfully surveyed the city's glitterati in order to discover what costumes we'll see at the Central Park Conservancy Halloween Ball, Allison Sarofim's party, and Susanne Bartsch's bash. While some people are as yet undecided—poor Fabiola Beracasa's been so rushed off her feet, she hasn't even had time to think, and Charlotte Ronson hasn't made up her mind either—others are all set.

The former doorman at Bungalow 8, Amiri was the one thing standing between you and rubbing up against the Olsen twins. He has since gone on to open (and shutter) the Cuban-themed Socialista.

A few things are clear from Grub Street's profile of Socialista co-owner Armin Amiri's eating habits. First, dude's crazy. He has more eating disorders than Karen Carpenter and more guilt issues than Woody Allen.

As we knew, Armin Amiri, former Bungalow 8 doorman, is opening his own place, called Socialista. In the word of the very voluble Armin, the place will be a "peasant cafe." Now we find out from the Observer's Spencer Morgan that the theme will carry on to the door policy.

As Amy Sacco either A) fades into middle age and social irrelevance (soon she'll be just a Wikipedia stub) or B) plans a second legendary take-over of the world of nightlife, her underlings are graduating from beneath her. One underlord in particular, the "irrepressible" Bungalow 8 doorman Armin Amiri—protector of the realm and accused bruiser of p(r)etty boy Fabian Basabe—is set to open his own spot, called Socialista. It will apparently juxtapose Castro kitsch with Veblenian conspicuous consumption, down at Jane and the West Side Highway. "I believe in a healthy balance of capitalism and a socialism," he tells Spencer Morgan. So chin up, Amy Sacco—in case you ever need it, surely there's a dacha for your dotage in the offing.
