Is Anderson Cooper's Wikipedia Entry Being "Straightwashed?"

Emily Gould · 02/16/07 02:28PM

Washington Blade managing editor Kevin Naff once hilariously claimed that being an out homo never hurt his career, and that, therefore, being publicly gay could never hurt Anderson Cooper's career. Yeah, well, we hope gayness never topples Naff's job at a gay paper with a circulation of 33K. Anyway! Naff's now up in arms because gay stuff has been repeatedly deleted from the Coop's Wikipedia entry. The debate still rages in a Wiki discussion thread. Meanwhile, we encourage you to head on over to Andy's wiki and do some updating of your own. Remember, be bold!

And I Am Telling You I'm Not Blowing

abalk2 · 02/15/07 12:50PM

Get your TiVos good and ready for this Sunday. Former Renee Zellweger consort Kenny Chesney sits down on "60 Minutes" and talks about all those nasty rumors that he might, you know, like sticking his junk in dudes.

Fashion Week: Backstage At Diane Von Furstenberg

Emily Gould · 02/05/07 03:10PM

Looks like we made it — backstage, that is. Gawker camera-club president Nikola Tamindzic slinked lithely past the velvet ropes and into the hearts of Americans. Americans who were waiting for pix of Anderson Cooper getting yelled at, to be precise. But wait, there's more! Eva Amurri and Susan Sarandon on booby patrol! Ellen Barkin looking more like a cat that just woke up than ever! Phillip Bloch! CHARLIE ROSE! Stop sitting there quivering with joy and just click. And if you're craving even more, Nikola's extended gallery is right here.

Media Bubble: DO NOT MAKE IT LIVE!!!

  • "Time Inc. has selected Stockholm's Bonnier Group as the winner of the auction for the right to buy 18 of Time Inc.'s magazines. There was no immediate word on the price that Bonnier will pay, but the terms are in place and a deal should close within a month." That's what AdAge said, but then they pulled it. So who knows? • Remeber The Politico, that Allbritton politics website thing that hired away pretty much every decent political print reporter? It's live. [The Politico]

Anderson Cooper Re-Ups With CNN

Emily Gould · 01/19/07 01:40PM

Well, that lady with the Anderson Cooper tattoo might as well ink the 360 logo on there as well: despite rumors that A.C. was going to fly the CNN, ah, coop in favor of CBS's Early Show, he's decided instead to sign a new multiyear contract with his old bosses. What enticed him to stay? Well, according to Broadcasting & Cable, which broke the news today:

Anderson Cooper Suggests A Replacement For Tara Conner

Emily Gould · 12/21/06 03:50PM

Trump this, Rosie that. We needed a calm, reasonable, mature perspective on the whole Miss USA kerfluffle, so we turned to our favorite gravitas-dispenser, A.C. We weren't disappointed.

Ben Stiller 360

Emily Gould · 12/20/06 04:10PM

Is Ben Stiller's new gray hairdo a bid for gravitas, a natural result of the human aging process, or an attempt to emulate the hotttness of our most favorite newsanchor? The lady portion of Best Week Ever seems to think it's an improvement over whatever his hair looked like before; our Jew-hotness circuits are way overloaded for today, so we can't be sure. Anyway, just putting it out there.

Anderson Cooper's Friend: Answers At Last

Emily Gould · 11/29/06 08:30AM

Breaking!!! Important!!! Remember this photo of A.C. with the Equinox trainer who our crack (headed) research skills had led us to think was named Marco/Marko? Perhaps those were not such hot tips after all. Manhattan Offender leads us to a clue to this begelled specimen's true identity in 'Andersen's' fake Dlisted profile — a comment from the 'D' in Dlist himself, Daniel Nardicio. "really folks- he's not gay- ask his boyfriend Cesar."

Anderson Cooper Laughs Heartily At 'Brokeback Mountain' Joke

abalk2 · 11/20/06 03:25PM

When Robin Williams is a guest on any program, hilarity is sure to ensue! Okay, that statement hasn't been true since some point in the late seventies when the entire country was suffering through an epic Quaalude binge. But his recent appearance with Anderson Cooper at least provides Anderson with a few chuckles. We're not sure what's so funny, but maybe Anderson knows something that we don't.

Anderson Cooper Tattoo Defies Our Expectations

Emily Gould · 11/08/06 09:30AM

Tanya Paulin, who has Reeg and Kelly on the other ankle, shows off the Anderson Cooper tribute that's permanently embossed in her flesh. We have to get on the ritual scarification tip if we want to one-up her, we guess. Good thing we're already numb with pure existential joy just from looking at this picture.

Even Better Than The Anderson Cooper Pumpkin We Carved

Emily Gould · 11/01/06 10:30AM

A reader sends us saddening news: someone out there is even more dangerously obsessed with AC than we are. She's an enterprising Quebecoise named Robin, and she even has a blog devoted to the man she calls "Anderfox." So there probably wasn't a dry panty within miles of Degrassiland last night when the pumpkin she carved, which features an apparently limbless (but still like sooo hot!) Cooper, made it onto 360.

Anderson Cooper's 360 Degrees of Hotness: The Breakdown

Chris Mohney · 10/18/06 12:00PM

Just what is it about CNN anchor Anderson Cooper? Is it the steely gaze? The mysterious CIA connection? The penchant for hot young Latinos? No, Anderson Cooper cannot be contained merely by a rote taxonomy of his many virtues, but nevertheless, we've never met a man you couldn't properly encapsulate in a good, solid pie chart. Plus, it ties in quite neatly to the whole "360 degrees" concept, don't you agree? After the jump, Intern Mary plows through just this past year's worth of Anderson Cooper media mentions, classifying each attempt to distill and articulate the fundamental Cooperian appeal.
