Ali and Lindsay Compare Notes

cityfile · 08/19/09 07:22AM

It's been a few weeks since we've heard anything about Ali Wise, our favorite computer-hacking, Kabbalah-loving, former publicist who says she's "taking the summer off" to concentrate on "new projects." But we were pleased to see her put in an appearance at the Inglorious Basterds premiere the other night. And we were even more pleased to see her in the company of her good friend Lindsay Lohan. If you're navigating the criminal justice system and dealing with defense attorneys, you might as well get a bit of advice from an expert, right? [GoaG]

Ali Wise Gets the Boot

cityfile · 07/30/09 07:52AM

Ali Wise, the publicist and social fixture accused of hacking into another socialite's voicemail, is going to have plenty of time to work on her defense from now on. WWD reports today that Wise is longer employed by Dolce & Gabbana. (Unfortunately, the fashion house wouldn't "elaborate" on her departure, so we don't know the specifics.) Don't think she's sitting at home watching bad television and eating ice cream, though. Judging by the number of exclamation points, it seems like she was in a pretty good mood last night when she headed out to attend the Pete Yorn concert. [WWD]

Ali Wise Gets Spiritual

cityfile · 07/28/09 01:44PM

Fallen publicist Ali Wise is tweeting again. But now things have taken a turn for the worse. Judging by her latest message, she seems to be taking spiritual guidance from Rabbi Yehuda Berg, the director of the cult known as the Kabbalah Centre. But, hey, you never know. Maybe she'll get lucky and her $26 investment will put an end to those "unfriendly stares and unkind glances" she's been getting. It's worth a shot! [Twitter]

Ali Wise Returns to the Net

cityfile · 07/21/09 10:00PM

Publicist and social fixture Ali Wise hasn't said anything publicly since she was arrested a couple of weeks ago for allegedly hacking into the voicemail account of interior designer Nina Freudenberger. It's probably Wise's lawyer who has been urging her to keep quiet. Because she just resurfaced on Twitter. And judging by the crypic tweets she's been sending out, she has a few things she'd like to get off her chest:

The Socialite Crime Wave of Summer '09

cityfile · 07/17/09 10:43AM

Ali Wise won't go down as the only member of the social set to spend time in handcuffs this month. Jules Kirby, the "champagne-swilling" party girl and perennial favorite on blogs like Park Avenue Peerage and Guest of a Guest—and ex-girlfriend of Nevan Donahue, Olivia Palermo's layabout cousin from The City—was arrested in Southampton over July 4th weekend. For attempting to steal an American flag. By the way, did we mention it was July 4th weekend?

Who Doesn't Want a Reality TV Show?

cityfile · 07/15/09 02:33PM

Fabiola Beracasa isn't the only social butterfly looking for a little reality TV stardom. (She may be the only one with an actual deal in hand, though.) Fashion Week Daily dropped the news this afternoon that Tinsley Mortimer approached the CW recently about hosting a show about "life as a socialite divorcée"—and the CW passed! (Au contraire, says the Tinz; various networks have been approaching her about doing something, but she's been forced to turn them all down because she values her privacy.)

Stacey Bendet Demands Justice

cityfile · 07/14/09 09:56AM

Dolce & Gabbana publicist Ali Wise is facing a few felony charges for allegedly hacking into the voice mail of interior designer Nina Freudenberger. And there appear to be other victims of Wise's electronic crime spree, including a fashion designer named Briana Rasinski, according to today's Post. But Wise has at least one friend who's got her back: Stacey Bendet, the founder of alice + olivia. Judging by her comments, we're going to go ahead and assume that Freudenberger will not be asked to design the next home that Bendet and her husband Eric Eisner move into:

Ali Wise Gets Technical

cityfile · 07/13/09 10:13AM

Ali Wise's lawyer is responding to the charges she hacked into the voicemail account of fellow social butterfly Nina Freudenberger. Attorney Mark Jay Heller says Wise didn't do anything wrong—or at least commit the crimes she's been accused of—since the charge of eavesdropping only applies to conversations that were overheard and/or recorded, not voicemails. And she couldn't have engaged in "computer trespassing" if phones—and not computers—are involved: "He [Heller] said authorities had misapplied new laws governing technology. The eavesdropping charge should be dismissed because, among other reasons, Wise had not overheard or recorded a conversation, Heller said. Of the computer trespass charge, he said authorities had not alleged or proven, 'that Ali engaged in any 'unauthorized' conduct in conjunction with a computer or computer service.'"

The Publicist/Hacker and the Scheming Decorator

cityfile · 07/10/09 10:28AM

We've received a bit more info on Ali Wise, the Dolce & Gabbana publicist and social fixture who was arrested this week for allegedly hacking into the voicemail account of interior designer Nina Freudenberger. And it looks like Freudenberger may not be quite as innocent as she's led on. As Page Six reported today, the man at the middle of this little squabble is Josh Deutsch, the founder of Downtown Records.

Britney's Conversion, LiLo's New Career, Jerry's Pitch

• Lindsay Lohan hasn't been getting too many acting roles what with all her personal problems as of late. But she may have found a way around that: She's starting her own film/TV production company. [THR]

Dolce & Gabbana Flack's Felony Computer Trespass Complaint

John Cook · 07/09/09 01:53PM

Ali Wise, Dolce & Gabbana's party planner and publicist and all-around-gal-about-town, was arrested Tuesday for hacking into the voicemail of interior designer and rival socialite Nina Freudenberger. Scandale! We have the criminal complaint.

Scandal in Socialite-Land

cityfile · 07/09/09 08:16AM

Fashion publicist and social scenester Ali Wise was arrested earlier this week after she allegedly hacked into the computer of Nina Freudenberger. But other salacious details may soon come to light. "Wise's antics go beyond what's stated," an anonymous tipster tells us by email. "For that reason there's a restraining order in place against her now, effectual for 5 years. And there were multiple victims of her hacking hobby. A defamation suit is under way in addition to the felony charge of computer fraud she already faces. There are piles of irrefutable evidence against her." We have no idea if any of that is true, but it may be worth mentioning that Wise's ex-boyfriend, hotel owner Jason Pomeranc, was the victim of a hacking attempt himself last fall, as Cityfile first reported. The case is still open, though, and the identity of the person who managed to make off with some of Pomeranc's personal files has never been revealed. [Previously]

The Battle of the Blondes

cityfile · 07/09/09 06:03AM

• The fashion publicist/socialite who moonlighted as a computer hacker? This is going to make for a fabulous movie. It seems Ali Wise (right), the Dolce & Gabanna public relations director, professional socializer, and ex-girlfriend of hotelier Jason Pomeranc was arrested this week for using her computer to wiretap and eavesdrop on interior designer/social butterfly Nina Freudenberger (left). The worst part? Wise was held overnight in an jail cell and wasn't given any special treatment, poor thing. [NYDN, P6]
• Wise wasn't the only nightlife fixture behind bars this week. Wass Stevens, NYC's most famous club doorman, was arrested for whacking a man with the metal end of a velvet rope outside Noah Tepperberg and Jason Strauss's Avenue the other night. Stevens says the man acted up when he was refused entry, which sounds a pretty likely scenario. [P6]
