University of Missouri police say they have apprehended the individual who posted threats on the anonymous app Yik Yak, sparking turmoil across the university yesterday and prompting some black students to spend the night off-campus.

“Some of you are alright. Don’t go to campus tomorrow,” one of the messages posted to Yik Yak said. “Tomorrow mizzou will really make national news.”

“I’m going to stand my ground tomorrow and shoot every black person I see,” another post said.

Without providing much detail about the suspect, the University of Missouri confirmed the arrest Wednesday morning, noting that the person “was not located on or near the MU campus at the time of the arrest.”

The school’s outgoing chancellor, R. Bowen Loftin, also noted on Twitter that the man used “multiple accounts” to threaten students.

The school reportedly increased security last night as students reported unconfirmed on-campus KKK sightings.

“We had additional officers on patrol last night and the campus remained safe,” MUPD Major Brian Weimer said. “We investigated a number of reports and tips and take every one of them seriously.”
