Christopher Leonard, the 17-year-old boy whose older brother Lucas died in a brutal beating the two of them received last week at the Word of Life church in New Hartford, New York, will testify against at least one of his assailants, the New York Times reports.

On Friday, the Times reports, during a hearing at New Hartford Town Court, an assistant district attorney, Dawn Lupi, asked that scheduled court hearings be postponed until Leonard was released from the hospital.

Leonard was released from the hospital this weekend and is in the care of Oneida County Child Protective Services, New Hartford police said. He is expected to testify against Sarah Ferguson, his 33-year-old half sister, who is charged with assault, at a preliminary hearing Wednesday.

Six members of the church are charged in the boys’ beating, including Leonard’s parents, who are charged with manslaughter.
