A former Mississippi deputy says he was the victim of a crafty robbery perpetrated by a next-door neighbor and his very naked wife.

54-year-old Stephen Amaral of Crossville, Tennessee, says the June 27 incident began innocently enough with a simple request from his unnamed neighbors to swim in his pool.

Amaral told police he invited them both in, but the husband soon left to get a pack of cigarettes at his wife's request.

While he was away, the wife, reportedly in her thirties, asked Amaral if she could swim naked and he consented.

Unbeknownst to Amaral, the husband hadn't really gone to retrieve his spouse's smokes — he was actually inside Amaral's house, going through his stuff.

While the victim was busy gawking at the naked woman in his pool, the alleged suspect stole $1,195 worth of jewelry and medication, as well as a handgun of sentimental value from Amaral's days as a deputy.

After 20 minutes or so, the woman got out of the pool and Amaral offered her a towel to dry off.

"I escorted her outside and invited her to church, but she said she didn't have time for that, she wasn't ready for that," he told Nashville's News 2. "They cleared me out and I just feel violated."

An investigation is ongoing and no arrests have yet been made.
