SF Politician: "Fox News Is Not Real News, And You're Not a Reporter."
Scott Wiener, who sits on San Francisco’s Board of Supervisors, is happy to talk to any news organization about any issue—like banning public nudity or bad neighbor Mark Zuckerberg. But Fox News is not a news organization, and Wiener told them as much when they came after him for an interview about San Francisco’s undocumented immigrants.
The network has been aggressively seeking comment from the Board of Supervisors after a local woman was killed by an undocumented immigrant and Fox commentators made “sanctuary city” policies the scapegoat.
“They’ve been stalking various members of the board of supervisors for the last week. They went to someone’s home. One of my colleagues said they were following her around in her district last week,” Wiener told ThinkProgress.
But he’s not going to give them the satisfaction.
“Fox News is not real news, and you’re not a reporter,” Wiener repeated as he strode past the Fox News camera waiting in his office hallway.
The video made it to the O’Reilly Factor, where Bill O’Reilly accused “pinhead” Wiener of “enabling evil,” and Wiener became a local hero overnight.
“People are thrilled. There is such a deep seated frustration with Fox News and the fringe it represents,” he told ThinkProgress.
