Alan Barnfield is on trial in Sheffield, South Yorkshire after allegedly having sex with a Shetland pony. Police apparently found him "sweating profusely and smelling strongly of horses" in a dark wooded area near a paddock.

Residents of the Oak Tree Stables in Doncaster, South Yorkshire called police after they spotted Barnfield leading one pony, named Sky, and another pony from the stables in August 2012. "It is at this time the prosecution say that intercourse took place out of sight in a dark wooded area at the end of the paddock," prosecutor Louise Reevell told the Sheffield Crown Court.

DNA from Sky was later found on Barnfield and "bestiality images and films" were discovered on his phone. From the Daily Mail:

The 44-year-old was also equipped with a rucksack containing several cans of Lynx deodorant, a length of white electrical cable, a handheld water sprayer, a cloth, a metal dog chain and two bottles of Lucozade.

Sky was examined by a vet and found "in discomfort" the day following the alleged sexual assault. Barnfield, 44, described by prosecutors as a "sexual deviant," denies the charges. He claims he was "just out walking."
