On Sunday, authorities in Kuwait announced on Sunday that they had detained a young Saudi Arabian man, Fahd Suliman Abdul-Muhsen al-Qabaa, who they accused of carrying out a bombing attack at a Shi’ite Muslim mosque, Reuters reports. The attack on Friday left 27 people dead.

ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack shortly after it took place on Friday, identifying the bomber as Abu Suleiman al-Muwahe.

According to NBC News, the Interior Ministry identified the bomber as a 26-year-old illegal resident named Abdul-Rahman Sabah Aidan. He was found hiding in a house in the al-Riqqa residential area.

The owner of the house, a citizen of Kuwait, was also detained. “Initial investigations showed that the owner of the house is a supporter of the deviant ideology,” ministry spokesman Adel Hashash told Kuwait state television. “The interior ministry will continue its efforts to uncover the circumstances of this explosion.”
