San Antonio Cop Accused of Sexually Assaulting Child Weekly for 4 Years

A five-year veteran of the San Antonio Police Department, Juan Ruiz-Carrillo, was arrested Monday and charged with sexually assault of a child, the Associated Press reports. He is suspected of sexually assaulting the girl on an almost weekly basis, for about four years, starting when she was 15.
An arrest warrant affidavit says that Ruiz-Carrillo told the girl he would kill himself if she told anyone what was happening, according to the San Antonio Express-News. It also says that she told a youth pastor at her church, who told her parents and encouraged them to tell the police.
On Tuesday morning, at a press conference, SAPD Chief William McManus said that the alleged victim had contacted the department, telling them “that she was being sexually assaulted or having sexual relationships” with Ruiz-Carrillo.
The police chief said that Ruiz-Carrillo has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of his case.
