A few days ago, former and forever presidential hopeful Rick Santorum offered some seemingly (and uncharacteristically) supportive words on Bruce Jenner’s decision to come out as a transgender woman. But now, Santorum has one little thing he’d like to add: Don’t worry, I’m still a dick.

Santorum’s initial, surprising words of acceptance came during an interview with Buzzfeed, during which he claimed that his “responsibility as a human being is to love and accept everybody. Not to criticize people for who they are. But as far as for who they are, you have to respect everybody, and these are obviously complex issues for businesses, for society, and I think we have to look at it in a way that is compassionate and respectful of everybody.” Progress kind of!

Except that not 24 hours later, we got this:

In other words, is Bruce Jenner a living, human person that exists? Rick Santorum says “yes.” Does Bruce Jenner deserve all the same rights and accommodations afforded to non-transgender humans? Please, says Rick Santorum, of course not. It’s not like I’m not a monster. [Mediaite]
