Navy officials say at least three female officers may have been secretly filmed showering and changing clothes aboard a Navy submarine in tapes that were later distributed to other crew members.

The tapes were allegedly made on the USS Wyoming, a 135-person submarine with unisex bathrooms and showers. According to the Navy Times, although both men and women may have been filmed secretly, the only circulated videos were of female officers.

The submarine was one of the first to host female officers in 2011, when the Navy first began deploying female supply officers. A submarine officer apparently told Military.com that an incident seemed inevitable, saying, "It sucks. It was bound to happen."

Officials say an investigation is ongoing.

"The Navy is aware of an allegation of alleged criminal activity onboard USS Wyoming home ported at Kings Bay. The Navy and NCIS are investigating the matter, and unfortunately further details are not available at this time due to the ongoing investigation. If the allegations prove to be factual, the Navy will ensure individuals involved are held accountable for their actions," Lt. Leslie Hubbell said in a statement.
