Real Suicide Attempt Mistaken for San Diego Comic-Con Stunt
As folks gathered around a building in San Diego for what they believed was a promotional Comic-Con stunt, it was quickly revealed that the fake suicide attempt they were witnessing was, in fact, a real one.
As coincidence would have it, a stunt to promote the upcoming Kick-Ass sequel was due to take place in the same location.
But as stuntmen were busy setting up, a distraught woman stepped out onto the apartment complex's 14th floor balcony and over the railing, and began contemplating a jump.
Amos Carver, one of the stuntmen, and two of his colleagues, Gregg Sergeant and Scot Schecter, stopped what they were doing and immediately rushed to the scene with their gear in tow.
They hopped a fence and made their way to the woman's apartment after getting the green light from the building's manager.
Working as quietly as possible, Carver and his crew snuck up behind the woman and grabbed her, quickly attaching a harness around her to keep her from falling.
They managed to safely pull her off the ledge and back into the apartment. "She just kept saying, 'I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry,' over and over again,'" Carver recalled.
According to local police, the unidentified woman was upset over a recent breakup, and was intoxicated at the time of her rescue.
