Police: Philly Couple Having Sex in SUV Murdered in Crime of Passion
Philadelphia Police say two people found shot to death inside a parked SUV Friday afternoon were having sex when they were killed, and that they were likely targeted by their attacker.
A CBS Philly report from Friday afternoon says the two victims were found in Fairmount Park at 2:40 p.m., by two Philadelphia Parks and Recreation Department employees. The vehicle itself was reportedly towed to the morgue so as not to disturb any physical evidence.
The victims were identified in today’s Associated Press report as Shakoor Arline and Lisa Smith. The two had reportedly met at a previous job and had maintained an on-and-off relationship for a few years. The report also mentions, however, that they were each involved in other romantic relationships. Preliminary reports apparently indicate the shooting took place sometime between midnight and 5 a.m. Friday morning—if their sexy rendezvous was, for example, extramarital, or otherwise illicit, that might explain the location and hour.
They were reportedly having sex in the back seat “when someone opened the rear door and fired nine times, shooting both multiple times in the head.” The police investigation will initially focus on Arline’s and Smith’s other, umm, significant others, according to Homicide Capt. James Clark.
“So obviously that’s where our investigation is going to start, because somebody knew that they were in the park at that time and obviously had an issue with that,” he said.
Clark said nothing was taken and the case was not a robbery.
“You’ve got nine shots fired, all of them head shots to both of the victims, so it appears to be very much a crime of passion,” Clark said.
Police say they do not yet have any suspects.
