Police: D.C. Quadruple Murder Would Have Required Multiple Attackers
In court papers filed on Friday, police said that the capture and killing of the Savopoulos family in Washington, D.C. last week would have required more than one attacker, the New York Times reports.
“The crimes described in this affidavit required the presence and assistance of more than one person,” Detective Jeffrey Owens of the Metropolitan Police wrote. Police have not yet named any other suspects. They have also not said whether the people arrested with Darron Wint on Thursday are suspects in the case.
Wint was identified as a suspect after matching with DNA found on a slice of pizza found at the Savopoulos’ home. He appeared in court on Friday, where a judge ordered him to be held without bail until a June 23rd hearing.
“They’ve got the wrong guy,” said attorney Robin Ficker, who has previously represented Wint. “It’s not in his nature. The police were under pressure to make an arrest, and they’re really straining here, overreaching.”
