Picture #29
"That's Cultural Appropriation and that's NOT OKAY!" *clutches pearls*
I've always wanted to go to the Burning Man, but I have a feeling the Playa would eat my pale white, heterosexual, non-drug consuming soul alive and spit my broken husk out to rot in the sun.
You don't have to do any drugs. You don't have to have any sex. You don't even have to be a liberal. You DO have to where sunscreen.
I wanna go too but there would be too many ex-boyfriends there.
I'm waaay too misanthropic to be around that many people, let alone artists...
Ditto, and for the exact same reasons. But that's also why I think I should go.
So to make things initially clear I get the joke and constantly find myself in the same context trying to make something funny for attention but I want to bring something up that's been bothering me with Gawker. The anti-Burner dogma here has become really apparent and always comes across as mean-spirited. It's ridiculous and mad-cap and caught in that weird place where they are trying to at least break even on everything, but at least it's still a community where a lot of people who found something that makes them happy that gets them away from the insanity of the real world for a while. Plus it's super outdoorsy and instead of being like those Silicon Valley retreats people actually create things instead of stroking one another's egos. Sorry it isn't something Manhattan yuppies can't instantly stream on their tablet.
What are you even talking about?
BubbleBurt is saying that because Burning Man is a thing people do no one is allowed to dislike it.
Calm thyself, my child.
Wait, are you telling me Burning Man isn't about stroking egos? That's news to me.
From their website:
"Trying to explain what Burning Man is to someone who has never been to the event is a bit like trying to explain what a particular color looks like to someone who is blind."
Except perhaps with less ashollish examples.
Hahaha! They certainly do think highly of themselves!
It's like they never heard Bold as Love or something.
Hendrix?
Yep!
Wow. That's offensive on every level.
Yeah, it's pretty sad, actually.
Posted this on my buddy's wall who's hardcore Burning Man. He's outraged. Beautiful troll.
Yeah, I'm tempted to post this on my fb. Some of my dearest friends are burners.
