The top 684,392 advertisements of the past year have now been honored with "Cannes Lions" awards. We've already shown you one of this year's winners in the "pedophile" category; but edgy ad guru Copyranter argues that the ad above (click to enlarge), out of Poland—in which an ad agency placed cards touting a "child safety foundation" inside children's underwear on sale at a kids' clothing store—is the single most disturbing Cannes Lion 2011 winner.

With its unassuming facade, dollar deals, and classy entertainment offerings, Michael's International in Houston is the perfect hang-out spot not only for discriminating gentlemen, but also for gentlemen who discriminate—as the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission alleges in a lawsuit filed Thursday.

An African-American Santa Monica High School student and wrestling team member says that in early May, he walked into a practice room and noticed a brown practice dummy hanging from a noose, then was accosted by teammates who made racist remarks, "bear-hugged" him, and chained him by his pants to some lockers.
Watch David Letterman Annoy Julia Roberts on the Late Show
Matt Cherette · 07/01/11 04:57AMTwo days after co-star Tom Hanks appeared on the same program, Julia Roberts visited the Late Show last night to chat with David Letterman and promote Larry Crowne. As it turned out, there wasn't much movie-related discussion. But there was a whole bit that involved Letterman peppering Roberts with annoying questions about her kids! He also flipped off the audience. The video, above.

Lauri Apple · 07/01/11 04:47AMJon Stewart: Mark Halperin Calling Obama a Dick 'One of the Greatest Things I've Ever Seen'
Matt Cherette · 07/01/11 04:14AMMark Halperin was suspended indefinitely by MSNBC yesterday for calling President Obama "a dick" during a live episode of Morning Joe. Schadenfreude at its finest! As Jon Stewart pointed out on last night's Daily Show, though, Halperin's actual comment—which Stewart called "one of the greatest things I've ever seen in my life"—paled in comparison to the awkward, Willie Geist-supervised apology that followed it.

Seth Abramovitch · 07/01/11 03:02AM
Now before you get too upset, the 64-year-old grandmother in question used the garden hose to spray her 9-year-old grandson in the face, and not, well, wherever your mind just went with that headline. But she did it at full blast! And also beat his legs. And all he did was eat a generous portion of delicious, crispy bacon.

After sneaking up on some schoolgirls in May, Beyonce shocked the crowd gathered for a Boys & Girls Club event at a Harlem Target store on Thursday when she appeared out of nowhere and began dancing along to her new song "Countdown" with some very happy young fans. Because that's just how she rolls. [via ONTD]

Seth Abramovitch · 07/01/11 12:24AM
How's this for a nightmare: Lanell Dowling, a 26-year-old man from Brooklyn, was thrown into jail last year after someone told the cops that he looked exactly like the sketch of a violent mugger posted around the neighborhood. They looked into it, and wow! Even the Precinct commander remarked to the press at the time, "I've never seen something like that before," meaning how uncanny the similarity was. (Wait — isn't that the point?) So, convinced were they that they had their man, because — come on, have you seen the sketch? — they showed him to the four victims for positive identification. "Yup!" they said. "That's him!"

Seth Abramovitch · 06/30/11 08:32PMIt was supposed to have been a bittersweet and quietly contemplative week for Glenn Beck, whose final Fox News Channel show aired today. Of course, all that was derailed by that senseless incident at Bryant Park, when his entire family was swept away by a wave of Cabernet Sauvignon released from a crop duster by an insane liberal. (Or else a plastic cup of wine tipped over. Reports were conflicting.)
