You do not ask if Zayn is on drugs. This is the chorus of One Direction's tween Twitter fans, who are absolutely outraged that Today's Matt Lauer would even think of doing such a thing. But after boy band member Zayn Malik bailed on One Direction's album release show for a "tummy bug," Matt had some questions for the rest of the group.

One Direction performed on the Today show yesterday in support of the group's new album release, but Zayn didn't even make it to the States for the performance. Here's how Matt approached that fact on the show:

Is it something more serious than just a minor illness? There have been rumors of substance abuse–what's going on?

Band member Liam Payne responded that Zayn just had a "tummy bug." Last night, Zayn told The Sun he was upset by the implication:

I'm really angry and upset by what was said on The Today Show. I was really ill at the weekend, that's why I couldn't fly to America.

One Direction fans are naturally inclined to believe Zayn.

That solves that, no drugs here. Except for that one time this summer that Zayn was caught high as hell on video.
