Last night, a teenage girl discovered the skeletal remains of an arm and leg on the waterfront in College Point, Queens. The NYPD believes the body parts might belong to Avonte Oquendo, the 14-year-old autistic boy who went missing in October. Police have reportedly contacted the boy's family.

A pair of 5 1/2 sized sneakers found near the scene match a description of the shoes Oquendo was wearing when he went missing, according to CBS 2 and the New York Post.

Police are still searching the East River for the rest of the body. "We found the arm and it's been here a while because it's skeletal," a police source told the New York Post. "But where there's an arm, there's a body."

The 14-year-old girl who discovered the remains reportedly took to Twitter to announce her find before calling the police, according to the Post. "Instead of calling 911 right away, she got on Twitter and talked about it," the Post's source said. "Then she finally told her mom and they called 911."
