Animal NY reports that the NYPD's Internal Affairs department is investigating this video of a large group of New York City cops slamming several bystanders to the ground in Sunset Park, Brooklyn last weekend.

The video, taken by a bystander, was posted to Facebook. It shows a group of NYPD officers ordering street vendors to clear the street at 6 p.m. When the vendors apparently don't comply fast enough for the police, the situation degenerates into violence.

You can watch the video for yourself and judge whether you think the citizens in question were "resisting" or posing any sort of threat to the police. To my eye, it seems that the cops escalated to violence and arrests rather quickly and unnecessarily given the relatively calm nature of the crowd.

Animal's Amy Nelson says the NYPD is investigating, but no more official information has been released.
