I know, NSA jokes and all (how have these not gotten old yet?), but are you serious though? How is this in any way shady? iPhone theft is a VERY well-documented problem in NYC, and iOS 7 introduces a new feature that can effectively make it impossible to use a stolen iPhone (by requiring you to enter the password of the previously used Apple ID after wiping/restoring the device).
The NYPD getting the word out about iOS 7 is a GOOD THING for EVERYONE. Less petty theft for the NYPD to be diverting resources to (they have a dedicated iPhone theft task force), less of your iPhones getting stolen.

I think people are forgetting (or ignoring) the fact that upgrading to iOS 7 does not mean the government will have access to your fingerprints... It means you have a phone that does NOT have a fingerprint reader...
A majority of phone thefts and non break in robberies occur to steal a phone, if that phone is useless, not able to be sold or data inaccessible then that will greatly affect theft and crime...

I doubt it's going to "greatly affect" theft. It'll be like two or three weeks before someone hacks the IOS and the pawn shops fencing these phones will continue to sell them.

Hey that's where I grew up! My mom still lives there and wouldn't survive without WF hot food. She's never mentioned a huge police presence nor have I seen any when I visit. What's that about?

I've seen plenty of cops go through that hot food line. I used to buy the salads there alllll the time.
So what you're saying is that even the cops in Brooklyn are hipsters: "Doughnuts?! Are you kidding? Do you know how much gluten is in those things?"

One assumes this is almost the exact opposite demographic they're usually stopping and hassling.
