Chrissie Ortiz was arrested on assault charges yesterday evening, just two days after her husband Ramsey Orta was arrested on an unrelated weapons charge. Orta, who filmed the fatal arrest of Eric Garner, said his arrest was set-up by the cops, and Ortiz echoed that claim in the press.

According to the Staten Island Advance, Ortiz was arrested after getting into a dispute with another woman just blocks away from where her husband videotaped Garner's arrest. She was released on a desk appearance ticket. Today, she appeared on PIX 11 to tell her side of the story.

Ortiz said she couldn't speak about her own arrest, but she repeated the claim that her husband was set up and spoke at length about police violence in her neighborhood. "It's not a good neighborhood," she said. "It's not. But the way the police were handling things ... they were taking advantage. They were treating us—civilians, period—like they didn't matter." Orta is currently being held on $75,000 bail.
